State Department Negotiates More Afghanistan Flights

Secretary Blinken believes about 100 Americans still remain in the country.

On Tuesday, State Secretary Antony Blinken reported on the ongoing effort to withdraw U.S. citizens from Afghanistan. The final withdrawal date that the Taliban had set for the United States was August 31, and the U.S. complied with the final military transport departing August 30. Secretary Blinken stated that he was in talks to allow more flights from Kabul to bring U.S. nationals and other allies out of the region.

According to the secretary of state, the Taliban has pledged protection for anyone with eligible travel documents to leave the country. The Pentagon believes that there are about 100 American citizens who still remain in the country and wish to leave. Secretary Blinken will appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee later this month to further brief Congress on the state of the withdrawal of Americans.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Blinken to seek God’s guidance as the department endeavors to bring Americans out of Afghanistan.
  • That the president and his advisors would see to it that U.S. citizens are evacuated safely.
  • For U.S. diplomats around the world to be discerning in their interactions with foreign dignitaries.
